Characteristics of a static web page


Static web page (sometimes called a flat page/stationary page) is a page consisting of static html (htm, dhtml, xhtml) pages which make up the whole. It can contain text, images, multimedia content (audio, video) and HTML- tags.

Tags are intended for the visitor and designed to help organize information on a website. All changes are made to the site’s source code, for which you must have access to the files on the web server.

Typically, a static web site is a collection of files, HTML, hosted on a web server.

Advantages and disadvantages


To create the page, you do not need to know programming.
Good cached page.
Fast page loading speed.
Minimum requirements for the web server.
Easy to transfer to another server or local computer.
The ability to directly view the file in the browser, without the use of middleware (web server, CGI).


Inability to dynamically generate content.
Inability to fully support users (select appearance, browser support, cookies).
With a large number of pages (files), if there is a need to make the same type of change (design, layout, adding new partitions) you must use third-party software (utilities).

Modern use

Online Business Card – contains the most general information about the owner of the site (organization or individual entrepreneur). Type of activity, history, price list, contact details, details, directions. Experts place their resume.

Product Catalog – in the present detailed description of the goods / services, certificates, technical and consumer data, opinions of experts , etc. These sites provides information about products / services that can not be put in a price list.
