The group Open NAND Flash Interface (ONFI) has developed a standardized low-level interface for NAND memory chips. This allows interoperability between NAND devices from different manufacturers. The ONFI version 1.01 was released on December 28, 2006. Specifies:
A standard physical interface (pinout) for NAND.
A set of standard commands to read, write and erase NAND chips.
A mechanism for self-identification (comparable to the function of detecting the presence of SDRAM memory modules)
The ONFI group is supported by the majority of NAND flash memory manufacturers, including Hynix, Intel, Micron Technology, and Numonyx, as well as by major manufacturers of devices incorporating flash memory chips NAND.
Flash Card Holder
A flash card holder is a peripheral that reads or writes to flash memory. Currently, the installed computers (including a plate or via USB), digital frames, DVD players and other devices, often read various types of cards.
